This featured retreat begins with a grounding warm foot soak, followed by a customized Vata-balancing relaxation massage, combining hot-stones. You will then flow into a hydrating face treatment, while warm shea butter melts on your toes during a warm foot wrap.

Designed to support hydration, collagen and elastin, this seasonal facial is for those seeking regular maintenance to support your skin’s overall health. This treatment provides gentle cleansing, exfoliation, hydrating vitamin and hyaluronic acid-rich masks and replenishing moisturizer to leave your skin feeling nourished and renewed.

Sesame Shirodhara

Warm organic sesame oil is the most traditional shirodhara. It is most beneficial for Vata-types when the mind has been hyperactive, restless, anxious or forgetful. Shirodhara is the soothing flow of warm oil onto the brow to reduce anxiety and insomnia, calm over-activity, and help to relieve symptoms of depression and mental exhaustion. Shirodhara treatments contain a short amount of hands on touch and are primarily a non-contact treatment. Shirodhara is traditionally paired with Abhyanga massage.

Pea Flower Pedicure

This calming seasonal feature begins with a Pea-Flower foot soak, followed by a leg and foot Pea-Flower exfoliation and hydrating leg and foot massage with gua sha and Monoi body lotion. Complete with meticulous nail care and polish or natural buff.

Vata Season

According to Ayurveda, the seasonal cycle of the year brings about a change in the predominance of the Doshas in our bodies. This time of year – fall through to early winter is governed by Vata Dosha.

Vata shares the qualities of air and space. It is light, dry, cold, rough, and mobile. A vata body type is naturally thin, with smaller eyes, irregular features, quick-moving, with skin that tends to be dry. In balance, Vatas are creative, intuitive, empathic, and highly sensitive. Vata energy makes us want to do everything quickly and have lots of ideas. When out of balance they tend to worry and be restless. Vatas may suffer from digestive imbalance, gas, bloating, dry skin, and anxiety.

Vata Lifestyle Tips

DIET

Our diet is a powerful way to soothe Vata. Substantive, oily, nourishing foods that are high in protein, high in fat, brought to life with warming, stimulating spices, and served hot, will go a long way toward maintaining your internal reserves of moisture and keeping you grounded through the Vata season. You’ll also want to favor sweet, sour, and salty tastes.

SELF-CARE

The most effective way to support Vata is by establishing daily routine. Do the same things (wake up, exercise, eat meals, go to bed, etc.) at the same times each day. Take time in the morning to calm your nervous system, awaken your tissues, and ground your energy by massaging your skin with warm, organic sesame oil.

SLEEP

Develop a sleep routine. Prepare for rest each day by turning off the TV or other stimulation a couple of hours before bedtime. Incorporate warm baths or showers, quiet music or mediation, or reading at bed time.

EXCERCISE

Vata is easily aggravated by fast, mobile activities. Consider slow, gentle, strengthening forms of exercise. Walking, hiking, swimming, biking, and yoga are good choices, provided they are done at an appropriate level of intensity.
