Vata: air and space energy; governs large intestines, circulation
Pitta: fire and water; governs metabolism, digestion
Kapha: earth and water energy; governs immunity, stability, strength
Those who are born with more of the space and air element have a vata constitution.
Generally, a vata person will be naturally thin, more talkative, and often restless. They typically have a lower body weight, dry skin, brittle nails, thin hair, and small eyes.
They have a tendency to be cold, with cracking joints and very active minds. They tend to prefer warm or hot weather, and have trouble tolerating the cold. They are creativity and easily excited.
Pitta people are those who are born with hotter constitutions, containing fire and water elements. A pitta person is generally driven, active, a perfectionist, dynamic, sharp-witted and also short-tempered. They may have leadership qualities, a moderate build, a smart personality, a sharp nose, and their eyes will also be sharp. Pitta people commonly have early hair loss or greying. They are generally warm to the touch with rosy lips and pink nails with a slight curve.
Kapha indicates a preponderance of the water and earth element. People with this kappa
constitution are generally cool, calm, cheerful, naturally full figured. If assigned a
task, they never complete the task on time. Actually, Ayurveda says that because a kapha
person is the least bothered, happiest type of person on the whole planet, the best
constitution is kapha. They’re cheerful all the time! Other qualities include a thick
build, thick, dark hair, big eyes with very white sclera (whites), and prominent, shiny,
white teeth. The skin may also be thick, moist, and a little cool to the touch. As a
personality type, while they tend to accumulate and collect personal items and are
inspired to doing things that are of service for society.
Abhyanga massage (abee-yan-ga) is an Ayurvedic massage that uses warm, herb-infused oils to create balance in the body. It differs from other massage in that it invariably uses generous amounts of oil for massaging the body. While abhyanga is relaxing and calming for the body, its intention is to provide therapeutic benefits to the body for a range of imbalances. As the oil is massaged into the skin through gentle to medium pressured strokes, it penetrates deep into the tissues to loosen toxins at the cellular level. The abhyanga enhances immunity, increases circulation, and creates deep relaxation in the body and mind.

Shirodhara is a purifying and rejuvenating therapy designed to assist with mental
exhaustion, relieve stress and imbalances in the central nervous system. It is an ancient therapy originating in India over 5,000 years ago. Warm oils are poured in a continuous
rhythmic flow onto the forehead and run through the scalp and into the hair.
Traditionally, it is used to calm the nervous system, harmonize Vata energy, release
stored emotions and purify the mind. This is achieved as the brow is associated with the fundamental endocrine glands, which organize and regulate all hormonal secretions.
Hormonal secretions are responsible for control of digestion, breath and elimination and
they are also responsible for moods and emotional stress.
